Description of the Red Spotted Goby
The Red Spotted Goby is also known as the Red-Blotched Pygmy Goby. They are small peaceful fish and are an attractive addition to any saltwater aquarium. It is important however not to place them with larger aggressive fish and ideally introduce them in pairs or small groups.

Red Spotted Goby secrete a type of mucus, or slime, from their skin. This slime provides protection against parasites and infections and helps the Red Spotted Goby to move through the water faster. Some fish species also release toxins in their slime which ward off enemy attacks. Other fish species use their slime to feed their young.

Gills enable the Red Spotted Goby to breathe. Gills consist of thin sheets of tissue containing blood vessels.
